Coronary Care Unit Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
Newark, New Jersey
As part of an ongoing major expansion project at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Gonchor provided architectural services for the design of a new Coronary Care Unit (CCU). Located on the newly added eighth floor, the 24-bed CCU is in addition to an existing 24-bed unit. The new unit provides services for medical coronary intensive care and coronary arrhythmia intermediate care with dedicated medical facilities and nursing support.

Glass partitions and sliding doors between adjacent patient rooms provide single room occupancies, while allowing optimum patient observation. The nurses' stations share common work areas and are designed to maximize nursing effectiveness. The layout of the new floor facilities equal access from all beds to the central core support facilites.

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a 545-bed teaching and research hospital associated with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
